This is the Dam on the Derwent Reservoir Derbyshire. This dam was used by the famous 617 squadron as target practice for their mission to destroy the great dams of western Germany during the second world war. And as such was also used as a location in the 1955 film 'The Dambusters', starring Richard Todd and Michael Redgrave.
